CRIMINAL SENTENCING EVALUATIONS
Judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys often seek the services of qualified professionals to assist them in
making recommendations regarding rehabilitative aspects of sentences in various types of criminal cases. The staff
of Northeast Clinical Specialists, LLC have considerable experience in providing forensic evaluations. In some
instances, these evaluations are requested and paid for by the prosecutor's office or the court. In other cases,
the request is made by a defense attorney, and the cost is borne by the
defendant. The staff of Northeast Clinical
Specialists, LLC are accustomed to working within the legal system, joining the prosecution or defense team, or
consulting directly to the court. Our evaluations include lengthy clinical interviews, review of background documents,
contact with relevant outside parties, and the completion of a battery of psychological tests. The results are
presented in detailed reports to the attorneys or the court.
CHILD CUSTODY EVALUATIONS
When a marriage ends in divorce, both parents and children face many difficult decisions. Very often, parents in
the process of divorce have very different ideas about child care and may not agree on the circumstances and conditions
of child custody. Childcare disputes are often a source of added stress for the children involved, who are torn
between loyalties to both parents. A custody evaluation is often helpful in protecting these children, by identifying
the strengths and weaknesses of each parent, and suggesting ways in which the child's needs might best be served.
Custody evaluations usually include a full psychological evaluation of the children and their primary caretakers,
and observation of parent-child interactions. The findings of the custody evaluation are typically prepared for
use in court, or in divorce mediation by other professionals.
PROFESSIONAL REHABILITATION ASSESSMENTS
Professional Rehabilitation Assessments (PRA) are a specific type of evaluation conducted on human service/healthcare/religious
personnel who have engaged in some kind of professional misconduct, often sexual in nature. Frequently, regulatory
boards, agencies, or denominational officials are unsure how to proceed after an admission or finding of guilt
and look for an independent assessment of whether or not the professional should be allowed to continue to function
in the professional role and, if so, what safeguards or rehabilitative experiences should be
required. The purpose
of these evaluations is to assist this supervising authority in its decision-making regarding appropriate disposition
of the issue. For more detailed information about this process, please press HERE
