Nusie Halpine was born in Spain and grew up in Latin America. She
and her family moved to the United States when she was 12. Nusie came to the
Willimantic area when studying for her undergraduate degree at University of
Connecticut. Loving the diversity and progressive groups in the area she stayed
and became a part of the community. She has been working in local social service
agencies and educational settings since 1988. She has also worked in the court system, with
criminal justice system, inpatient substance abuse treatment and children’s
services.
